UCF Astronomy Lab

The real treasure of UCF's physics and astronomy department is the Astronomy Lab. Robinson Observatory houses a 20-inch f/8.2 RCOS Ritchey-Chretien telescope. Current topics being researched at the observatory and department are rotation periods of binary asteroids, long-term dust-production behavior of comets, photometric monitoring of variable stars, and exoplanet transits. Don't worry if that doesn't make sense to you; we don't know what it means either. We do know that the structure is masonry walls supporting precast hollowcore planks. The observatory foundations include a 36" x 66" base for attachment of the telescope and observatory equipment
